Fortune! What is fortune?
Just a gold fly flashing,
which by light of evening
round your head is dashing;
Circling round your temples,
in your curls concealing,
while your head you’re clasping,
crushed by hand unfeeling.
Fortune like a dewdrop
on the blooms glints golden,
by a step mis-footed
suddenly downtrodden;
Trodden down, sad sighing,
with the clouds gone, hurting,
maybe with the hoarfrost
to your locks reverting…
