THE PACT BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH

When someone dies,
the living remember.
Much later her mirror
opens its mouth to speak,
his chair starts to murmur,
even the paths recall their steps.

Beyond the window,
a slow sunset
acquires their habitual tone.
Thus the living abide
in terms of the departed.

And so in time
does the manner, the motion
of the living
begin to resemble the dead.
