Finding a Shell

Life’s brief
say what you will
but an egg
is not simply
an egg It holds
white within white
the yoke
a chunk of

new land

discovered by waiting
A hand
stirs chaos
This civilized world
a tabletop
with shells

balanced upright

The problem
is what to break open
before breaking open
the shell
that holds

discovery
