WINTRY

As though the whole world to obliterate

the snow descends and whitened paths encroach

touched by the present moment’s pure approach

where’s the debate

Silent on our behalf the bells are peeling

the deafened bellringer in snowdrifts dozes

and distant pangs of unrequited feeling

stopped snow-fall poses
