WE'RE FROM WHERE

This dust on the bookshelves, who can say
where it's from, how it entered the world,
how long it's been here.
Years, some of it. Some yesterday,
some just now. One quick swipe
with fate's paper towel, then the trash,
tomorrow's truck, the hauling off.
