AN ESTIMATE OF MISSING WEIGHT

When you look at
an empty
pair of scales,
you can roughly see
what they can bear

or what they might
give way to
perhaps the both
of these
at once.

Really, it’s possible to lay
something on top.

Look at that,
the shadow of a
tomato,
that wasn’t even
what you had
planned.

The tomato itself is fine, too.
You’d rather guess?

A banana: a tangerine:
an apple: a grape:
an orange:

What weighs the most,
what weighs the least?

Then put the pair of scales
back on the shelf with
the tomato
on top

then just see

tomorrow
whether the fruit
gained any weight
overnight.
