I only wish to stay alone inside the poem, the poem

Ich will doch einfach nur alleine sein, allein im Gedicht, das Gedicht

alone inside the sea, the sea alone inside the windy night.

allein im Meer, das Meer allein in der windigen Nacht.

After the night, sunshine dragging the light in the water toward the sky,

Die Nacht ist zuende, wenn die Sonne das Licht aus dem Wasser zieht

the noisy crowd walks out from the expanse of sand to breathe.

und eine lärmende Menge zum Luftholen aus den Sandkörnern kommt.

After breathing for a bit the tiny crowd goes back to the noisy sand,

Wenn sie fertig ist, kehrt die körnige Menge in den lärmenden Sand zurück,

and another day, the sun is dragged underwater by the horizon.

dann ist der Tag vorbei, der Horizont zieht die Sonne ins Wasser.

The sea swims out of the night, the poem swims out of the sea,

Das Meer schwimmt nackt aus der Nacht, das Gedicht schwimmt nackt aus dem Meer,

I swim out naked from the poem and into another poem.

ich schwimme nackt aus dem Gedicht, und ins nächste Gedicht hinein.
