Indolent darling, how I love
Dear indolent, I love to see,
To see the skin
In your body bright,
Of your body so beautiful
How like shimmering silk the skin
Shimmer like silk!
Reflects the light !

Upon your heavy head of hair
On the deep ocean of your hair
With its acrid scents,
Where perfume laves,
Adventurous, odorant sea
Odorous and vagabond sea
With blue and brown waves,
Of blue and brown waves,

Like a vessel that awakens
Like a vessel awakening
To the morning wind,
When morning winds rise
My dreamy soul sets sail
My dreaming soul begins to sail
For a distant sky.
Toward remote skies.

Your eyes where nothing is revealed
Your two eyes that neither sweetness
Of bitter or sweet,
Nor bitterness hold
Are two cold jewels where are mingled
Are two chilly gems mingled of
Iron and gold.
Iron and gold.

To see you walking in cadence
When you walk in rhythm, lovely
With fine abandon,
With abandonment,
One would say a snake which dances
You seem to be swayed by a wand,
On the end of a staff.
A dancing serpent.

Under the weight of indolence
Your child's head under the burden
Your child-like head sways
Of your indolence
Gently to and fro like the head
Sways as delicately as a
Of a young elephant,
Young elephant's,

And your body stretches and leans
And your body bends and straightens
Like a slender ship
Like a slender ship
That rolls from side to side and dips
That, plunging and rolling, lets the
Its yards in the sea.
Yards in water dip.

Like a stream swollen by the thaw
When, like a stream by thawing of
Of rumbling glaciers,
Glaciers made replete,
When the water of your mouth rises
The water of your mouth rises
To the edge of your teeth,
Up to your teeth,

It seems I drink Bohemian wine,
I drink a Bohemian wine,
Bitter and conquering,
Powerful and tart,
A liquid sky that scatters
A liquid sky that sows its stars
Stars in my heart!
Within my heart !
