זֶה הִתְחִיל כָּךְ: בַּלֵּב פִּתְאֹם

This is how it started: suddenly it felt

נַעֲשָׂה רָפֶה וְקַל וּמְאֻשָּׁר, כְּמוֹ

loose and light and happy inside,

כְּמוֹ כְּשֶׁאָדָם חָשׁ שֶׁשְׂרוֹך נַעֲלוֹ

like when you feel your shoelaces loosening a bit

נַעֲלוֹ נִפְתָּח קְצָת, וּמִתְכּוֹפֵף.

and you bend down.

אַחַר כָּךְ בָּאוּ יָמִים אֲחֵרִים.

Then came other days.

וְעַכְשָׁו אֲנִי כְּמוֹ סוּס טְרוֹיָנִי שֶׁל

And now i’m like a Trojan horse

אֲהָבוֹת נוֹרָאוֹת, כָּל לַיְלָה הֵן

filled with terrible loves.

יוֹצְאוֹת וּמִשְׁתּוֹלְלוֹת, וּבַשַּׁחַר

Every night they break out and run wild

חוֹזְרוֹת לְתוֹךְ הַבֶּטֶן הָאֲפֵלָה.

and at dawn they come back into my dark belly.
