Staggered Rhyme

We collected all these rains and flights
before that obscure defeat ——
apologies piling up destroyed dams, and also
all the lakes we planted together indeed.
I can’t fear your heart still, nor the house we kept inside
whereas feelings accept my creed and lies.
Believing in those common causes, I believe,
a pantry would have been made, filled with wines and fireflies
just for how we imagined dusk and twilight
hazed in yesterday’s light. Today
we watch each other put on headphones, and take off
our unpainted skins, only rock-hard bones left,
what relics I could find above those ashes of sea.
As I gazed your sight, nothing is able to read,
while our suspended love landed on everywhere
beyond all these rains and flights.
