SONG OF MESSY FACED MISSES

Messy faced misses

hold back without pity

Since they are their own laughing stock

They’re always seen with

girl friends much more pretty

that’s why in love they have no luck

They can be trusted

just like old cart horses

They hold you up when you might fall

They don’t want thanking

They know what the score is

lads won’t fight over them at all

Messy faced misses

never seem to matter

they’re never shown an empty seat

Sipping at life like coffee ever bitter

Resigned to

never sweeten it

They tell the mirror:

Girl you look a warning

Maybe a blind guy’s kind of treat –

They like to fret so

Fail to sleep till morning

Find life without strife incomplete

They tell you: Mister

I’ll get by unaided

So cut your soft-talk thoughtfulness

Messy faced misses

just can’t be persuaded

that they don’t look at all a mess
