旧版本 新版本 36 雨中的石頭長出了青苔 36 雨中的石頭長出了青苔 37 38 39 40 AUGUST 17th, RAIN 41 42 Rain through the night, hard to sleep, 43 but the first cool breath all summer, 44 pouring from the eaves, 45 splattering the front steps, 46 seeping past the threshold. 47 48 Rain drowns the sunflower’s blaze, 49 wastes wrought iron to rust. 50 Little toads appear 51 one and another, 52 hopping by the door. 53 54 I listen to the rain 55 in a low, gray dawn 56 in a cool, dim room. 57 The man inside me 58 takes the rainbeaten road 59 straight south. 60 61 South lies Beijing, shrouded in mist, those years 62 of poverty, its balm wafting 63 from flowering pagoda trees, the latched window 64 banging open in storms, someone wrapped 65 in an old raincoat vanishing forever 66 at the end of an alley. Drains awash, 67 stalled cars on the road in the downpour, 68 the useless sweep of their wipers. 69 70 Rain never falls 71 until one’s dead 72 many years. 73 74 Rain hammers your roof 75 and drives your gaze to ground. 76 Hibiscus, laden with blooms, 77 sway heavily. 78 The room once bathed in summer glow 79 glooms in the rain. 80 81 Each year thunder booms from the mountaintops. 82 Each year the sound of rain enters our bodies. 83 Each day some of us die. 84 85 In rain the stones sprout moss. 86 87 trans. © Diana Shi & George O’Connell with PKU Poetry Translation Workshop - 3个月前 李大侠 更改了诗歌正文
