光线从一座山峦延展至另一座山峦，

The light passes

从一片花丛移转至另一片花丛——

from ridge to ridge,

日光所照之处獐耳细辛蔓延

from flower to flower—

却也渐趋黯淡

the hepaticas, wide-spread

花瓣朝内收拢，

under the light

蓝色瓣尖向着更蓝的花蕊弯缩，

grow faint—

于是群花隐没。

the petals reach inward,

山茱萸的蓓蕾雪白依旧，

the blue tips bend

但来自山茱萸根部的阴影

toward the bluer heart

疾行飞窜——

and the flowers are lost.

根系之中暗影匍匐前行，

每一片叶子

The cornel-buds are still white,

在草丛上割断另一片叶子，

but shadows dart

阴影追逐阴影，

from the cornel-roots—

随后，叶与叶影一并隐没。

black creeps from root to root,

each leaf

cuts another leaf on the grass,

shadow seeks shadow,

then both leaf

and leaf-shadow are lost.
