late spring, honeysuckle and lazy birds

忍冬花和懒散的鸟儿

heavy with the round scent

沉甸甸地缀满丛林栀子花和晚香玉

of tuberoses and jungle gardenia.

圆润的香气。

There is a man

这里有一个男人

in boots that make his thighs

穿着让他的大腿

look lethal   with a whip

看起来极具杀伤力的靴子

no spurs

他有鞭子 没有马刺

medieval sorrow in his eyes

中世纪的忧伤充满双眼

or around the mouth, maybe.

或在嘴角萦绕。

He is dangerous

他是危险的

in this place he has

在这个地方

the fertility of steel.

他有着精钢一样的生殖力。

There is a woman

这里有一个女人

in a vine green habit   her

穿着藤绿色的修女服

veins are purple, her blue

她的血管紫红，

eyes. She is blonde

双目碧蓝。

though sometimes brunette:

她的头发是金色的，

     “My horse is lamed

虽然有时更像黑发女郎:

       I was riding, I...”

“我的马瘸了

我正在骑它，我……”

And — still in the heavy air

they push each other down

然后——还是在这沉甸甸的空气中

like dogs with fleas

他们把彼此推倒

under the bushes, in them.

就像生了跳蚤的狗
