The light passes

光线从一座山峦延展至另一座山峦，

from ridge to ridge,

从一片花丛移转至另一片花丛——

from flower to flower—

日光所照之处獐耳细辛蔓延

the hepaticas, wide-spread

却也渐趋黯淡

under the light

花瓣朝内收拢，

grow faint—

蓝色瓣尖向着更蓝的花蕊弯缩，

the petals reach inward,

于是群花隐没。

the blue tips bend

山茱萸的蓓蕾雪白依旧，

toward the bluer heart

但来自山茱萸根部的阴影

and the flowers are lost.

疾行飞窜——

根系之中暗影匍匐前行，

The cornel-buds are still white,

每一片叶子

but shadows dart

在草丛上割断另一片叶子，

from the cornel-roots—

阴影追逐阴影，

black creeps from root to root,

随后，叶与叶影一并隐没。

each leaf

cuts another leaf on the grass,

shadow seeks shadow,

then both leaf

and leaf-shadow are lost.
