What a pity, when a man looks at himself in the glass,

He doesn't bark at it, like a dog does,

也没有像猫一样竖起毛须愤愤不已！

Or fluff up in indignant fury, like a cat!

他严肃自省，得出一套道德教训，啊，这多么可悲！

What a pity he takes himself seriously, and draws a moral lesson.
