四点来钟，下着稀疏的雪

About four, a few flakes.

我到外边雪地里清茶壶，

I empty the teapot out in the snow,

清新的寒气，让我感到阵阵兴奋

feeling shoots of joy in the new cold.

时近黄昏

By nightfall, wind,

南窗的帘子在风中轻轻晃动

the curtains on the south sway softly.

住在我的两间破屋中的一间

My shack has two rooms; I use one.

灯光飘落在桌椅上

The lamplight falls on my chair and table

我飘进自己的一首诗里──

and I fly into one of my own poems-

我不能告诉你，是何处──

I can't tell you where-

现在这儿，我好象曾经来过

as if I appeared where I am now,

一块湿地，飘着雪

in a wet field, snow falling.

一天天，父辈们死去

More of the fathers are dying each day.

孩子们的时机到了

It is time for the sons.

斑斑黑影聚拢，围着他们

Bits of darkness are gathering around them.

黑暗显现如光中的雪花

The darkness appears as flakes of light.

Sitting Alone

有一种孤独就象黑泥

There is a solitude like black mud!

栖息、歌吟，在黑暗之中

Sitting in this darkness singing,

我说不清，这欢悦是

I can't tell if this joy

来自肉体、灵魂，还是别处

is from the body, or the soul, or a third place.

Listening to Bach

有个人在这音乐之中

There is someone inside this music

可是说不清，他的名字是

who is not well described by the names

耶酥，耶和华，还是主上帝

of Jesus, or Jehovah, or the Lord of Hosts!

我醒来时，已经又下过了雪

'When I woke, new snow had fallen.

我独自一人，却恍惚有人相随

I am alone, yet someone else is with me,

正喝着咖啡，向窗外的雪看去

drinking coffee, looking out at the snow.
