苇草

Reed,

砍割、拔起

slashed and torn

却愈加繁茂——

but doubly rich—

花冠硕大如你

such great heads as yours

漂流在寺院的阶梯上

drift upon temple-steps,

而你却碎散

but you are shattered

于风中

in the wind.

香桃树的树皮

Myrtle-bark

印上你的斑点

is flecked from you,

鳞片般的树皮

scales are dashed

被迫飞离你的茎

from your stem,

砂子切开你的瓣

sand cuts your petal,

犁梳它的轮廓

furrows it with hard edge,

如桥石上的

like flint

星燧

on a bright stone.

纵使一袭风

Yet though the whole wind

砍向你的树皮

slash at your bark,

你仍然伫立

you are lifted up,

是！——虽然它嘶声

aye—though it hiss

要用泡沫把你掩盖

to cover you with froth.
